Treatment Approach

At Wilson Counseling & Assessment, LLC, we recognize that no two individuals are the same—and neither are their paths to healing. That’s why we draw from a range of evidence-based therapy approaches, tailoring each method to meet your unique needs, goals, and experiences. Whether you’re working through anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship challenges, or personal growth, we use the most appropriate therapeutic tools to support lasting change. Below are some of the primary therapy approaches we may use in your treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties. It is goal-oriented and focuses on practical tools to manage symptoms.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT teaches skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and increasing distress tolerance. It is especially helpful for mood instability, impulsivity, and trauma-related issues.

Mindful-Based Therapy

This approach focuses on being fully present in the moment without judgment. It reduces stress, anxiety, and emotional reactivity by increasing awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.

Trauma-Focused Therapy/PTSD Treatment

This approach helps individuals process traumatic experiences in a safe and structure way. Techniques may include grounding skills, exposure-based work, or trauma-informed CBT to reduce symptoms and build healing.

Grief Counseling

This therapy supports individuals coping with the loss of a loved one or major life change. It provides space to process emotions, adjust to new realities, and find healing.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

IPT focuses on improving relationship patterns and communication. It is effective for depression, grief, and life transitions by addressing how relationships impact emotional health.

Supportive Therapy

Supportive therapy provides empathy, encouragement, and guidance. It helps you process daily challenges, gain insight, and build coping strategies in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
