Michael W. Wilson, Ph.D, Licensed Psychologist

As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Wilson has over 20 years of clinical experience. He provides therapy and psychological assessment for adults in Birmingham and the surrounding area. He helps individuals navigate a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, relationship issues, adjustment to medical conditions, anger, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.

Dr. Wilson has a broad clinical background that includes extensive work with adults (18–64) and older adults (65+), gained through roles in private practice, community mental health, the VA healthcare system, and medical centers. He is committed to ongoing learning and providing the highest quality care.

Dr. Wilson completed his pre-doctoral training in an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he received rigorous instruction in the scientist-practitioner model—integrating research, assessment, and evidence-based treatment. During his clinical internship at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital in Texas, he gained specialized experience working with active-duty military personnel and veterans facing service-related mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and combat-related PTSD. This training strengthened his ability to assess, understand, and support both mental and medical health needs.

Dr. Wilson holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from UAB, as well as a B.S. with Honors in Psychology from UAB. He also holds associate degrees in liberal arts and biological sciences. Dr. Wilson’s education and experience guide his commitment to providing thoughtful, evidence-based, and compassionate care to every client he serves.

Anna H. Wilson, LICSW, Licensed Therapist

My journey as a therapist began in the early 1990s, when I first volunteered for a suicide hotline and a rape response crisis center. Those early experiences showed me the incredible strength people carry and the importance of having someone to listen without judgment. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for hearing people’s stories, offering support, and walking alongside them through difficult moments.

I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Alabama in 2004 and went on to earn my clinical licensure, allowing me to work more deeply and directly with clients in a therapeutic setting. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan and with a wide range of diagnoses, challenges, and life circumstances. Each person I meet brings a unique story, and I strive to provide a safe, compassionate space for healing, growth, and self-understanding.

Being in this profession is truly an honor. I am continually inspired by the resilience, courage, and insight that clients bring to the therapeutic process. My goal is to help individuals navigate their struggles, build on their strengths, and find meaningful paths forward. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of each person’s journey and remain committed to offering care rooted in empathy, respect, and genuine connection.
